SLG Supports Jinan City in Building a New District Heating System

The “Liaore Ruji” project is an important clean heating initiative in China. Leveraging waste heat from the Liaocheng Power Plant, the project has constructed approximately 130 km of high-temperature water transmission pipelines, connecting Jinan, Liaocheng, and Dezhou across multiple districts and counties.
As a leading provider of lithium bromide absorption technology in China, SLG supported the project with large temperature-difference lithium bromide absorption heat exchange units, delivering a total heat transfer capacity of 120 MW.
At full capacity, the project will supply heating to around 100 million m² in Jinan, largely replacing coal-fired heat sources within the urban area and along the transmission corridor. Each heating season, it is expected to reduce standard coal consumption by nearly 1.3 million tons and cut CO₂ emissions by approximately 3.56 million tons, significantly improving regional air quality and supporting the transition toward cleaner energy.
By optimizing heat exchange efficiency and lowering the return water temperature in the primary heating network, the solution increases the supply-return temperature differential, enabling more efficient long-distance heat transmission and cascade energy utilization.
The system not only ensures stable heat source performance for the project, but also reduces network heat losses and supports the replacement of coal-fired boilers in Jinan’s urban area — contributing to regional decarbonization efforts.
