Powering the Winter Olympics: SLG’s Zero-Water Energy Solution Behind a Global Event.
2026-02-11
On February 7 (Beijing Time), the 25th Winter Olympic Games will officially open in Milan–Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy.
For the first time, the Winter Olympics has partnered with a world-leading telecommunications operator — América Móvil. The company is also the media rights holder for the LA 2028 Olympic Games, the France 2030 Winter Olympics, and the Brisbane 2032 Olympic Games.
Behind this global event, SLG’s green energy equipment is quietly supporting the stable operation of América Móvil’s data center.
This project represents the world’s first tri-generation + zero-water-consumption energy station specifically designed for data centers and successfully put into operation.
The system adopts gas internal combustion engine power generation. Through waste heat recovery, exhaust gas and jacket water heat are converted into hot water to drive SLG absorption chillers, enabling cascading energy utilization and significantly improving overall efficiency.
SLG’s direct air-cooling system, using air as the cooling medium, eliminates water consumption while efficiently completing cooling for generators and chillers. This fully addresses water scarcity challenges and marks a breakthrough application of zero-water cooling in the data center sector.
With intelligent load regulation, the system dynamically adjusts operation based on real-time data center demand — delivering energy with the precision of a “smart thermostat,” minimizing waste, and reinforcing a low-carbon energy philosophy.
The stable operation of SLG’s core equipment not only provides América Móvil with a safe and low-carbon energy solution, but also — alongside the Milan Winter Olympics — demonstrates the strength of China’s advanced manufacturing on the global stage.
