Turning Waste Heat into Valuable Steam with SLG Heat Pump Technology

At the Xiangfeng Petrochemical project in Yunnan, China, SLG has successfully transformed converter gas waste heat into valuable low-pressure process steam using its lithium bromide absorption high-temperature heat pump.

As one of China's first demonstration projects utilizing converter gas waste heat for steam generation, the project demonstrates how industrial waste heat can be converted into a reliable energy resource—reducing both operating costs and carbon emissions.

The system generates 8.88 t/h of low-pressure steam, saves approximately 71,000 tons of steam annually, reduces cooling water consumption by 50%, and delivers annual economic benefits of approximately USD 1.5 million, with a payback period of just one year. It also saves approximately 9,000 tons of standard coal and cuts 185,000 tons of CO₂ emissions every year.

Applicable to ammonia, coal chemical, coking, and distillation processes, SLG's waste heat recovery solution helps industries improve energy efficiency while advancing their decarbonization goals.
