SLG Has Developed an Air-Cooled Chiller Integrated System that Combines Its Conventional Chiller Products with Advanced Air-Cooling Technology

2025-05-15

In the high-temperature and water-scarce regions, there is a strong demand for cooling solutions. However, traditional cooling towers struggle to provide effective cooling in extremely high ambient temperatures. To tackle this issue, SLG has developed an Air-Cooled Chiller Integrated System that combines its conventional chiller products with advanced air-cooling technology.

This system utilizes an electrically driven refrigeration mode to enhance cooling performance. By integrating this technology with traditional air-cooling systems, the solution achieves significantly improved cooling effects while also increasing energy and water efficiency.

Process Description

Natural Cooling Mode

In winter, when the temperature is ≤20°C, hot water is cooled using the V-type air cooler in the integrated unit. This process, relying on the fan and tube bundle system, meets cooling requirements without water evaporation loss. As the electric chiller doesn’t operate, energy consumption is minimized.

Compression Refrigeration Mode

When ambient temperatures exceed 40°C in summer, natural air cooling is insufficient, prompting the activation of the electric chiller in compression refrigeration mode. The heated circulating cooling water is pumped into the air-cooling system before returning to the electric chiller for further cooling. This closed-loop system prevents evaporative water loss while maintaining efficiency and conservation.

Advantages of Air-Cooled Chiller Integrated System

High Flexibility and Load Adaptability

The water-cooled screw chiller features a semi-hermetic twin-screw compressor and a flooded evaporator, providing high flexibility for various operating modes and variable load conditions.
